What's the First Project I Complete Since My Sewing Hiatus??

You read right, I am back from my sewing hiatus, yaay! However, I over did it a bit yesterday. I tried to do too much at one time.

But, it felt good to get back in my sewing room!! I was commissioned by a young mother of three to make her son ( about 4-5yrs.) a nutcracker style jacket...he's going to be in a wedding out of town.

I got the fabric/pattern on Thursday...she's leaving town tomorrow around noon. Now keep in mind I have not seen the little boy. I was just told by a friend of mine that actually met with the woman what size he was and she took some measurements for me. I called the mother for the other measurements I needed. I was given specific instructions by the mother on what to do.

Anyway, I began cutting/sewing the jacket yesterday, probably about 1pm, stopped about 4pm so I could cook. I started again about 12:30pm and finished right at 3pm. Then, off to meet her I went. Thank God for my mother, she drove me to meet her, I'm not quite ready for driving yet...makes me nervous.

Little Will tried the jacket on and he LOVED it! His mother loved it! It fit perfect! He will be wearing his jacket with a pair of white slacks and some sort of belt around the waist.

So, here's a picture of my first project back at the machine ( gotta get myself back in the groove...I'll be returning to work soon).

He tried this on over a t-shirt and his jean pants.

I'm so excited, I forgot to tell you the specifics of "the jacket", lol!

Well, mom brought me a Burda pattern~ 2461, 1 1/8 yd of emerald green , velveteen fabric, 6 buttons, 3 frog closures, and gold trim. she told me she wanted tails in the back, but the peplum short in the front, so a cross between view A and B. She didn't want cuffs and no faux pockets...no additional trimming. It's a good thing because the fabric she sent was the exact amount needed with no more to spare.

Here's the pattern:

Well, on to the next project~ 3pc. suit alterations!

Happy Sewing,

Thanks Bunny! Mom was so happy and thankful, she said it was just what she imagined! And, Will didn't want to take his jacket off, his mother had to peel it off of him, lol! Here you see him in the mirror after he's tried it on for the second time...he was giving us that soldier stance, lol!

Alethia, this is wonderful and would you just look at Mom. You can tell she is thrilled and her little boy is quite proud of himself.

Guess I was posting as you typed this comment.  I'm so grateful not to have anymore real commitments to sew....now I can selfishly sew anything I want to sew.  lol

So glad you're back. Hope all is well. I've been driving myself crazy with this debutant dress for the 18yr granddaughter. I'll upload the photo soon.
